The mother of Binta Jarju, a lady shot dead by a security officer at the Manjai checkpoint last week Saturday, has threatened to take legal action against the state for murdering her innocent daughter, a reliable source informed APA Saturday.According to the source, the mother of the deceased who is a vendor at the Banjul Albert Market, is in grief for losing her daughter, which she said was one of the breadwinners of the family.

The police Public Relation Officer (PRO) ASP David Kujabi, last week told local press in Banjul, that the shooting was regrettable and that it was done in the police course to stop the car in which Binta Jarju was on board, for security checks.

Meanwhile the killing of the lady who was a cashier by profession, have shocked many people in the Gambia, especially her family members, with many people, including political figures and activists, calling for an investigation into the issue.

They also described the act as unprofessional, saying that it could have been avoided.
