The Standard has been reliably informed that The Gambia has withdrawn from the Africa Under-23 championship, the qualifiers for which start on 12 November.
According to our sources, the Gambian football authorities have cited financial constraints as the reason for the move. The Gambia was paired with Libya in the competition which will also serve as the qualifiers for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games.
